38.3 degrees c - positively cool! Just got back from Corfu today - 42.4 degrees when we left at 9am. Got back to Newcastle airport and reached for my sweatshirt!

Blimey this is turning into a Monty Python sketch.
42.4 degrees? Eh we dreamt of cool days like that. We lived in a Bessemer converter it were 1600 degrees.

Is quite windy outside. Had a breeze all day. Debating if I should close the windows. Is cooler up here than the lower areas as on a hill near the sea so get the winds, but when we nip down the hill it is warm! Maybe into the late 20's or early 30's during the day here. Not sure. A good 5 degrees warmer if we go down off the hill. Puzzling though as we are closer to the sun being on a hill? One good thing though. We might actually get some figs this year.

I thought I had it bad: a mere 39.444444444444444 degrees Celsius (I had to do the conversion from Fahrenheit). Tomorrow I shall repair to Ruidoso, New Mexico, into which Grindstone lake I will hurl my mortal remains.

Rain more or less daily here in the desert Southwest. Monsoon season, as it were. The stuff congregates in patches, so a deluge might be in my neighborhood, but 10 km down the road it is perfectly dry. Then, the sun comes out, and boils the water off in great clouds of humidity. Better enjoy it, as when it passes we won't see rain for months upon months. Every other week I get up to Grindstone Lake and swim the length of it, counting fish, dragon flies, and ducks. Couple times got caught out in the middle as a thunder storm passed overhead. Swimming in a downpour is well, pleasantly interesting. At least I could not get any wetter. As for being struck by lightening, I cheer myself by the thought I will never see it coming.
