We have lots on our estate. Some so far over the top it looks ridiculous.

Ours came out of the loft this afternoon. We usually hang them across the front of the garage, so they may go up this week if the weather is fine, but will not be switched on until about December 10th - they are LED's and on a timer so should not cost much to run. We also have a real Christmas Tree (potted) which sits at the front of the house with LED lights - it got moved down the garden on Friday and will go out front next week. Only one in our road with lights switched on at the moment.

mmm, because we have had so much updates to our house recently I can't even find the garage to retrieve my lights let alone when I do get in there!

2 houses in our road have lights on. One room window and the other house with lights all over even over the roof and the garage at bottom of garden. it looks fantastic.

I choose not to put lights up as a matter of principle. Our road had a guy who started putting up lights that also included the name of his business then started bullying the neighbours to join in. It got to the point where he would stand in front of your car as you came home and verbally abuse you if you didn’t give in.
Saw him off though - he moved out and his business went bust. And most of the lights stopped.

I put lots of lights up - but in a tasteful way I hope. Helps to brighten up a dark miserable time of the year. Will be putting them up next weekend - always gives the neighbours a laugh as I get tangled up.

Blimey Steve now I remember why we liked living in the country side. Nothing but fields and sheep next door.

No sheep here, just very valuable white cows. This house lighting, has become a bit of a fad, in uk, whilst, here , in france, they are more mindful of cost of electricity. Christmas, is not a big thing, either. No turkeys in shops until the week before, and even then they are fresh, not frozen. No christmas cards, either. New year, is a bigger thing.
