I think you are only thinking of modern railways, you should note I used the word ERA in my post, it means the time frame in which the model is set.
I refer you to Wiki if you have no historical knowledge regarding facing points.
How sweet that you should apparently gang up on the imposter lols
Perhaps now I will be banned...........

Ha ha have no fear about being banned. Not sure Brian needs to read about points. Think he has a slight knowledge about them. :D

Can two people be classed as a gang?

Model railwaywise I have never had a problem with facing points on my layouts. Perhaps it depends on how fast the trains are going.

Please mind the tone in your post, fourtytwo.

This forum is known as the friendly fourm for a good reason, and I intend for that to continue. :)

The word that always plays a part in model railways is compromise. Very difficult to model something exactly the same as 12 inch to the foot. Sometimes you just have to something that works for the layout no matter what ERA you are modelling.

Part of the fun is getting things to do what you want them to do.

Well... now that certain people have stopped having a fuss about the facing points. if no one has any usability concerns for the layout im happy with it!

i dont really have an era in mind just want a layout i can enjoy watching trains run and do a bit of shunting!

thank you for information about the facing point locks ill have to see if can model that somehow.

ill post some progress pictures soon

Good luck. Just run what you like. I tried to stick to a certain era but only because it stopped me buying too much, well that was the plan.

‘Watching trains run and do a bit of shunting’ - it’s very enjoyable.

As to sticking to an era, like WTD I failed miserably, no willpower to keep my hands in my pockets, I’ve got a right mish-mash. In any case does not rule 1 apply?

Have some fun and enjoy your railway.
