Don't use the 'sheds' for your building supplies, talk to your local builders merchant.

I have been in the industry for over 40 years, timber prices have come down, though the 'sheds' have kept the prices inflated.
We are a national company though the builders merchants side of the business are located in the northwest covering Derbyshire, Staffs and Gtr Manchester.

i must admit that i have no problem with price of softwood or ply, when you look at why you want it. We happily spend £300 a loco, and then complain about the price of the surface thats going to support at least 3, plus rolling stock. I have 12 running on my layout, and base cost £100. Its a no brainer.
