If I decided to change from O gauge I would definitely go TT. It is interesting how other producers of model railway products have started making TT. If it wasn’t selling they wouldn’t make these products and would let Hornby fail.

As far as price rises go, everything is rising right across the board from food to nails. I know it is a pain when hobby prices rise but when it comes to the crunch a hobby is not a necessity.

Just to clarify, it's not really Hornby investing in TT that's an issue... it's the brazen cash grab they pulled by keeping retailers out when it was launched.

It saddens me that Hornby seem to have forgotten that they are still around today due to the loyalty of retailers in the past.

my view was that they had limited stocks, nowhere near enough to supply retailers, so took initial provision on themselves. whilst making a lot of work, it did mean they kept control. the problem now, i am afraid, is the cost of the TT stuff, is matching 00, which i dont think was ever the intention. i dont know where they go from here.

N gauge matches OO John and occasionally O. We will just have to play with what we have. I really don’t need to buy any more but the trouble is I do buy more. The price increases have put a brake on it.

I do but the prices of O are also climbing and getting out of reach such as £90 wagons.

When i was considering changing scales or calling it a day i looked at what i had rolling stock building etc and decided to have a massive prune .
Had 36 locos at one stage now i`ve got 12 , just enough building etc to make it still interesting .

Now before the "greed crisis" i got the Mallard and FS from Beales in town for £79.99 i kept them, but other locos and rolling stock i had when i sold them made me a nice few bob

i`m glad i did what i wanted to do when i did, i always wanted a model railway ,remembering the one i saw as a child and living in a railway area, i embraced the whole project

AND i took loads of pics so i have memories

Price increases are nowadays just a fact of life. Hornby get bashed in all directions on "all forums" - other manufactures do not - why? I note Accurascale are selling 00 gauge wagons at £84.95 - which appears to be fine by everyone - £90 for an "0" gauge wagon Brian, must be an absolute steal. As has already been said "you don't have to buy it" - the choice is yours. I don't see this being the end of Hornby.

I didn’t realise Accurascale wagons were that price, you are correct O gauge is a bargain Barry.

I still think Hornby make good models, in the past I had a few dodgy ones from them but the worst came from other companies, some quite expensive and absolutely hopeless.
