Why the change over to slow action motors?. That was going to be a future question by me.

Hi Dirk, don't know Barry's reason but I changed to servos as I didn't like the bang that the solenoid ones make. Barry uses a different slow motion motor type which is easier to set up than the sort I use. R-

Hi Dirk - I had only used the Peco solenoids in the fiddle yard, and as I am in the process of rebuilding my control panel, I decided to swap the solenoids for Cobalt iP's - which have been working faultlessly for many years on the rest of the layout. The control panel will feature the DCC Concepts Alpha system - I have everything I need, I just have not got round to setting it up - that's the next major job. I would add, that currently the points are operated via my Hornby Elite via the track, so miles of wire removed. Barry

Thanks again for the explanations. This hobby is a never ending learning exercise but I am loving it. Already thinking of expanding the layout and haven't got a train on the tracks yet. Its like a disease...
