Re: Peco points spring install
On my old layout I got round the problem by using SM3s. Course, this was in the 1980s. They don't seem to make them now, unfortunately.

Re: Peco points spring install
A couple of years ago I contacted Peco technical and they still did the spring replacement free of charge you just had to pay for the postage back which I think was just a couple of pounds. I sent them about 10 points to have the springs replaces and a cheque for £10 because I thought it was the right thing to do. I got them back quite quickly and packaged in new sleeves. was a fantastic service and saved all that fiddling about.

Re: Peco points spring install
I was checking through a pile of Peco points which I am hoping to reuse last night. . Looking to see any problems with any of them. I had one long curved which I noticed under the spring is a plastic plate which holds the parts togeather were the spring is fitted. There was a tiny hairline crack in it and it and seemed to me if the spring came out this plastic plate which holds the assenbly together must be the cause of the spring failing. No doubt when Peco repair them they must replace this to hold the spring in place. So just putting the spring back is a bit like changing a fuse with out finding out why it blew the fuse in the first place. ........John

Thanks for the input. You think if this is a problem for a lot of modellers Peco would do a redesign as it is a pain. Cheers.

Re: Peco points spring install
I would not blame Peco,,,,,,,,, the design is fine. The point I was cheacking was at least 38 years old and still in good condition all it needed was small piece of tape to hold back plate to stop it comming apart and it will probably do another 30 years. Not that that will bother me as I am 71 now.collectors wrote: ↑Fri Jan 18, 2019 12:57 pm Thanks for the input.
