I have also ‘planted’ thirty ground signals around the layou - probably need a lot more.

Who’s 3D ‘shed clutter’ is it?
A relatively new supplier for me - https://www.westhillwagonworks.co.uk/
I found them as a source of magnetic Hunt couplings last year but at the Warley show their stand was rammed with 3D printed stuff.its mainly modern outline but there are quite a few items that are of use on older layouts. Quite reasonably priced as well.
And yes, I put in another order this morning.

Just had a look and I can see why you’ve put another order in.

On and off, I have thought about adding posts and pulleys for signal wires, usually dismissing the idea as an unnecessary indulgence.
But........I saw some 3D printed versions and started thinking again. I also realised that the cost of multiple packs would be quite high.

The only issue I have with 3D prints is that the resin is quite brittle so I have been playing with a prototype in plasticard. A simple length of I-beam extrusion (left over from the shed roof) and slices of round rod cut using a jig in a guillotine to keep them square and even.
This is a first effort. I think the pulleys are slightly too large but the rod is what I had kicking around the bench. They are 1cm high and will be spaced at approx. 6cm based on the spacing used by a commercial supplier.
Any thoughts?

A great set of pictures. Love the shed.

Started putting the posts for the signal control wires on the layout. I do have to make some slightly smaller versions to run along the platform walls. Also finisished fitting the last of 41 ground signals although I now realise I forgot to stick the upper disc transfer on one of these.

Having ‘planted’ over 90 pulls posts I decided on another session of masochism and have started adding wires to the pulleys. I’ve done the first run - an easy one close to the front of the layout - the others will be more challenging.

Plus a couple more 3D detailing in the shed.

Above and beyond with the wires Steve. You will be mentioned in dispatches.

Before we know it they will be operational :o Great work - it's the detail that makes the model - the little items you know are there but most overlook.
