I was surprised to win the auction - I was expecting a flurry of bids in the last few minutes. When I bid in an auction - which is not a regular occurence, I tend to place my one bid when there are about ten seconds of the auction left. So yes a great result. I will fit it with a 21pin sound decoder and the lights might need modifying (more of them than it comes with). I read somewhere that the real thing has been promised to the NRM when it stops work. I also used Click and Collect for the first time - much quicker than the normal post.

Nice capture Barry - we will make a diesel man out of you yet…….what you need now is a nice Warship or Western that used to stray on to Southern tracks occasionally.

I don't think that will happen Richard - however I do have the blue Deltic on pre-order - I saw it regularly when spotting in the very late fifties when it was operating out of Kings Cross. Barry

Can’t beat a Deltic………. But what about a nice Green Class 37 ….. I am sure they also ran out of Kings Cross once in a while.

This arrived today from Accurascale almost 4 years since I ordered it……. Needs a bit of running in and the fantastic sound turned down a bit, as the thrash is too loud for me alone in my garage.

First batch of "people" awaiting the paint brush. A mixture of loco crew and seated passengers. I am still having slight "vision" problems following the cataract surgery. I have had my final eye test - all ok, and am currently using a pair of cheap reading glasses (correct prescription) for close-up work.

This arrived yesterday - Hornby Standard 2MT. Unlike Steve M I have yet to add a sound decoder etc., that will be done very soon.

One of the advantages of the new Hornby HM7000 system is that you can literally at the push of a button transfer control from your phone/ipad to your regular controller. This short video shows a Bachmann Class 3MT fitted with a Hornby HM7000 sound decoder running the length of the branchline. I had turned the room light down a tad to show other lighting on the layout, so the video is not as clear as I would like. The branchline has a DCC Concepts shuttle module fitted to each end. By setting up certain CV's - using the phone it takes seconds - the train will shuttle back and forth for a long as the controller (in my case the Hornby Elite)is switched on - the train/loco can be programmed to stop at either end for up to four minutes. There is a degree of "fine tuning" required on acceleration and deceleration required, but a lot of this is down to how much room (track length) you have available, especially for stopping.
For some reason having double clicked on the video, you then need to then click on the left-hand icon at the bottom of the picture.

Nice video. Loco sounded good, what a difference decent speakers make.

Thanks Brian - It is the speaker that came with the decoder. One problem I noticed with using the iphone for videos, is that they are very sensitive when it comes to sound. I think I could hear the wheels pass over every joint in the track
