Thank you TT, I've been keeping my eye out for one of these sets over the last year, the majority of them though go up for sale on a well known market place and the prices have been pretty high as we've come to expect so when I came across this set at a price I could live with I snapped it up :D
I gave it a quick test yesterday evening on the rolling road and although it ran ok-ish I think it will benefit from a service and a good running in session as it's been sitting in it's packaging for a while 👍

Cheers Lee.

Hornby Ruxton & Hornsby shunter

I thought I'd posted this, but apparently not. I picked it up in Albuquerque, New Mexico Model Railway Show and was pleasantly surprised to find one of three North American dealers of Hornby with real British stuff for sale. This little thing is a gem, crawls beautifully, and negotiates points without a breath of hesitation owing to the pickups in the affixed wagon. I have consigned to pick and deliver upon a point-to-point section (inspired by British modelers) where it goes from Colliery to the central Henley Station.

After realising I didn't have a Castle Class, I went on the hunt. Ebay wasn't very helpful, either pricey or rough, or much older versions than I wanted. I found this on a website of a bricks and mortar shop, and it looked a nice deal. Missing the accessory pack, but that was mentioned, I can live without but will keep an eye out to find one if possible.

Although I have a rake of 60ft Corridor Collets and a rake of Suburban Collets, I found out about the Centenary Coaches (I am only a couple of years in to railway modeling and I am still learning ðŸĪŠ). Only the old models available RTR, so I bought some to see how bad they are .... and am pleasantly surprised they have flush windows and the ones I got were in superb condition.

Yes I know one has a newer GWR logo and isn't from the original set, but I have plans to correct that and have some Airfix versions on the way too, as they have a more correct chassis for the brake 3rds, so I found out from a post on a forum 😊

The plan is to end up with a rake of 5, not sure yet if I want to keep the "Cornish Riviera" boards, to very loosely resemble that service, or just run them without.

That's a good looking set TT, and a rare find, I mean a bricks and mortar model shop not the castle class :D
Unfortunately not many places left to visit as the overhead costs can't compete with online companies, it's always nice to see what you are buying and get hands on if possible but that is becoming a rarity

Cheers, Lee.
