Nearly fifteen months since I last did any work on my N gauge layout and the bare, painted hillsides I put in to cover the two loops still have no scenic treatment on them.
I have to take stock and decide if I want to finish this layout or not.
At the moment I am edging towards breaking it up and starting a new OO layout in its place. It would be nice to sell it as a complete unit but as it was never built to be ‘mobile’ it would probably be impractical. Plus, it would need to be completely rewired in a new location.
Time will tell.

Best thing I did was to break up my old layout. Really enjoying the hobby again with the new one.

It is a very good layout - but the prospect of starting something new is always exciting - big decision to be made. Barry

Well, I’ve certainly got the space to do it. More concerned about the ‘space’ it would leave in my wallet.
I do have some ideas rattling around though - mainly as a result of the mistakes made in the past. I could reuse the baseboards but I’m leaning towards building a set of 4’x2’ modules which could be set at different heights to avoid the ‘flat earth’ look. Gives the option to include a viaduct/valley which in turn leads to a primarily rural setting. But I do like the idea of an MPD of some description, but that is at odds with the countryside approach, so who knows.

I suspect they would eventually find my body in a shallow grave in the woods - probably with a Dapol Terrier inserted in a convenient orifice.
