Hi Steve,
Nice result , very well done. Tender still too clean but it is too easy to overdo it with 'dirt'

PP :!:

Lovely picture - looks very real, which I guess is the ultimate compliment in modelling.

Thanks Richard. That is a camera angle I’ve been looking at for a while and I think this loco shows it off well.........but I must build a small scenic infill for the black corner, bottom left.
Maybe tomorrow?

One byproduct of ‘lockdown boredom’ is random online purchases - this was mine.
So for an unlimited time, I’m offering a special offer of a free card with every painting commission. :D

Hi Steve,

Nice Class 31 picture card you have there :D ........ might have a project or two coming your way in the not distant future - still trying time decide whether to sell one or two locos that no longer fit with either of the era’s I have chosen to model, or repaint and keep them ( aka Class 31 situation again).

Will get back to you when I decide - cheers

Hi Richard.
Glad you still like the 31 - happy to help when you’re ready.

I hadn’t planned to post any pictures until my latest repaint was finished, but these two do demonstrate one of the challenges with a livery change.

The first shows the body shell stripped of all glass and fittings (whee possible). I had removed the previous branding with IPA but even so, it could be seen under the primer. I have flatted it back with 2000 grit wet and dry, used wet, effectively using the primer coat as body filler.

The second picture shows the second coat of primer and the ridges have pretty much gone. I still have to flat the cab sides as the ridge is still there but this also needs some white primer ahead of the yellow on the ends.

After some selective masking so the ends could be primed in white, I completed the base colours for the bodyshell. Masking around the cabs is very difficult do there is a bit of overspray to be removed but overall it hasn’t come up too bad.

Steve,

Making very good progress my friend.......the roof in particular really looks much better with the grey colour and the body work looks great where you had earlier challenges with the original markings.

Keep up the good work - cheers Richard
