More detail developments - cows and a small flock of herdwick sheep. This field will not be their permanent home but it has better lighting for photos.

I also completed a 15 hour print of a North East coble fishing boat - this is a 30’ version which may prove to be a bit big for the layout. Easily resized if necessary. Also getting some ducks and swans ready for when I eventually get around to adding water to the river.

Doesn’t it use a lot of resin, if that’s what it is, to make each duck. Is the scrap reusable?

Still a novice Brian. There is a way to print many ducks on a combined base, I’m just not fully up to speed on that part of the software. The separate bases do make it easier for painting though.

You seem to be really enjoying the 3D printing and the results are stunning.

Yes Mr B. it is quite satisfying - I clearly didn’t heed Brian’s warning about it taking over my life!
It’s good to be able to pick up new skills, even in my dotage, so my brain cells haven’t completely turned to mush.
It works out quite well for me at present - it’s too cold in the shed to spend any meaningful time modelling, but with this I can prepare a file on the computer in the warm, then set the printer in the garage to run either overnight or while I’m at work. Currently building up a stock of detail items ready to ‘plant’ on the layout when it warms up. Almost like having your own modelshop under the workbench and without postal charges or delays.
I’m hoping that at least one of the main 3D figure suppliers will start releasing downloadable files in the not too distant future - they have already started to get feedback from existing customers in this regard.
As for costs, my set up came in at just under £300 and I’m well on the way to covering that with the models so far printed. Take the loco lamps - ready made they are around £7 for five and I have dozens of the things now.

Very impressive - the field with cows and sheep looks very realistic - make sure you wear your wellies when in that field!
