Last week I was seduced by an introductory offer on a new 3D printer. Basically £300 off when bought direct from the manufacturer.
It has a larger print bed (bigger models) and a higher resolution.
But improved fidelity comes at a price. My old printer worked perfectly straight from the box - I think I got lucky in that the default settings worked with any old resin I chucked in it.
However, the new one requires calibration and a degree of finesse - as evidenced by failed prints last week.
I have belatedly discovered the 'Cones of Calibration' - a print file that shows the results of over and under exposure.
I've just finished a series of test prints ranging from 1.5 secs to 2.5 secs per layer with the results in the photo below. Top photo shows progressive failure of the Cones as the exposure decreases from right to left (under exposed) - the point at which the row of cones fails is the right exposure. Bottom photo shows the same but from an over exposure perspective.
For this resin on this printer it seems that 1.8 to 1.9 seconds could be the sweet spot.
Now repeating with grey resin before attempting a real print.

I wasn't sure the latest batch of ModelU fishermen would have a natural home on the layout but this little cameo seems to work.

And some 'osses and their drinking trough.

I like that, particularly the fishing scene. :)

The cameo certainly does work, very authentic. Nice one.

Looking good.
I especially like the cattle being driven towards the gate.

That's a lot of beef. The horses are very good.
