As some people know on my diesels to Glenburnie side of the layout, Glenburnie has been demolished. As I still wanted to be able to run steam engines to Sovereign Street, a new junction and track had to be laid

Here is 'Calls Junction'.

A new home has to be found for the signal box and scenery to attend to.

At least trains can be run. :D

That right hand track joint doesn’t look straight. Could cause an issue.

It looked okay when I laid the track, but like you, Steve, I saw the glaring error in the picture.

It is now sorted. :D

Pictures have a habit of showing things like that - I have dozens that I wouldn’t dare publish. :D

What amazes me is how many ‘glaring errors’ are to be seen in some pictures in the modelling press. If I were ever to get into print (v. unlikely) I think I would do a bit of ‘housekeeping’ first. Already this month I’ve spotted filler smeared up a brick wall, static grass on a tank engine and that’s without mentioning some significant gaps under buildings and walls.

Note to self: proof-check photos in future. :D

I've had similar track-laying experiences myself. Everything looks dandy, nice and straight, no doglegs, till you take a picture. Then the errors hit you in the eye. I'd go so far as to recommend a photo check to all layout builders.

Cheers,
Artur

With the rebuilding of the layout for Diesels at Crown Point, Sovereign street is also getting a little makeover.

Gone from Sovereign Street is the large building at the rear of this photograph

n its place I have been playing around with buildings in keeping with the area. There is now room for the signal box.
