Painting and Weathering Service
Re: Painting and Weathering Service
Some partial reassembly and a coat of satin varnish. Still some work and touching up to do on the tender and cab plus both buffer beams need finishing once some extra transfers arrive. Also found a small patch on the red that needs a local respray.

Very, very impressive.
And the Lord said unto John “Come forth and receive eternal life”, but John came fifth and won a toaster!

Not really an update on the project as I’m waiting for one more transfer to arrive, but there is an addition to the workbench.
Found these soldering ‘helping hands’ on Amazon after watching an Adam Savage video on YouTube. You get two pairs of arms mounted to a desk clamp but I glued two suitable threaded nuts into the back of my benches and screwed one pair to each - one on the paint bench and the other on the electric bench.

Reassembly complete, glue and the last bit of varnish drying.

‘Fashion shoot’ on the layout tomorrow before returning it to the owner.

Well done Sir.
I admire your skill in use of an air brush and applying lining etc.

Before I put up the final photos of the Duchess I will share a tip.
The most important thing to have to hand when modelling is a collection of ‘sticks’ - for stirring, mixing, prodding or whatever. The issue is often not having them to hand when needed.
I have seen homemade caddies attached to bench’s but I spotted this acrylic desktidy in the Range yesterday - ideal for cocktail sticks, skewers, coffee stirrers, lolly sticks, tongue depressors and cotton buds.

Final pictures of the completed ‘City of Carlisle’. No weathering on this one - ex-works.

And as the loco is DC and the layout is DCC, this is the only allowed movement.
