I used https://resizeimage.net/ - which was mentioned by IanS at post 9(?)

Upload your image - Para:1

Then go straight to para.4 - in the third box from the left insert your pixel court - I used 46.
Then click "re-size" which is in para.7 - this will indicate the size of your picture - you can also view the image.
Save then image by downloading. Then when you go into Avatars on this site, following the instructions - it worked.

I hope that is clear(?) - it surprised me when it worked.

I used Image Size. Kept trying until I found a photo that didn’t turn into a blur. To be honest if I can do it, anybody can.

My instructions weren't to clear. Once you've reviewed your new image, there is a box that shows the size, I think mine was 5.9. I then saved the image, which joined lots of "downloads" on my system. I then entered this forum, went to Avatars, and where it said find image I clicked on that box, and it went directly to my "download" file, I clicked on the picture, and the jpg. reference appeared in the avatar box, I then clicked "submit" - and it did. It's not as big as my previous avatar, but it is complete, whereas the former was cropped. Keep trying it will suddenly appear.

Microsoft Paint will resize any image - JPG etc to the px size required. Its free and normally included with all windows editions. Though with Win10 its not shown on the desktop, but should be in the list of Apps available. That is what I used to resize my Avatar!
