There was an article in one of the railway model magazines that showed how to
replace the front wheels with a small black beetle powered bogie, that might be a solution for you.

I think once you have purchased all the parts or a kit such as the one above the cost would be high and not do justice to the Triang Hornby model.
I would try adding weight to rear of loco if there is any space. and fit later front bogie as suggested earlier with font pick ups like the Lord of the isles has. Fitting the bogie should be easy enough.
