Hi RAF When I was Hospital in 2016 I was told I had Pulmonary Fibrosis and I did not have any idea what it was. The Dr on the ward told me I would be dead in 3 years but I am still here to annoy you all...........Lovely. I looked it up in the National health web sight and it said the same about 3 years. So not much point looking on the net for info. RAF and Brian you say you can get same service if you pay check again dear boy. You cant,,, anyway I have been paying for health care since I was 15 so I dont class the NHS as free service.

Where does this notion that the NHS is ‘free’ come from?
It is prepaid through tax and National Insurance and when it comes to treatment we pay, generally speaking, at the point of delivery for prescriptions, dental care and eye tests. Never has been ‘free’ and never will be.

And prescriptions go up to £9.00 per item in England from today! No wonder the less well paid stay away from the doctor!

At least at my age they actually are free (although I have paid all my NI to date
)

Don’t know what we would have done if we had lived overseas. My son had two heart valve replacement ops performed by one of the top heart surgeons in the world. The cost would have been astronomic in the US and elsewhere. Still lets not get into discussing the NHS etc. we’ve done it all before. Anyway who said the NHS was free?

Your the one who brought it up Brian,,,,,,,,,,,, all I said to BB not you, was I would have kept the tabs which worked that he got in the US and not tossed them out as his GP said. Knowing what this country is like for bringing in new drugs. I was taking BB. ................John
