I have W10 on my laptop which incidentally is incredibly slow. I have never seen an advert on it and certainly haven’t knowingly done anything to prevent them. Must get an expert to see if they can speed it up.

It could be the bloatware that Windows 10 has that is being referred to as adverts. All the rubbish such as Candy Crush, Age of Empires and the numerous other apps that populate the start menu that Microsoft think we can't live without
These can be removed / uninstalled and notifications for other apps they think you might find useful turned off.
If you want to really clean it up there are Powershell scripts that can be run that will clear it all out and ensure it doesn't come back.
Unfortunately, the way Windows 10 now works, the Feature updates which update the version can and does sometimes re-add things.

I don’t get anything like that, just the apps that I have added. It’s just sooooo slooow. Luckily I have my hypersonic iPad.

Thanks for that info. I'll fire up the lap-top and see what I can do with it. I'll start another thread. It has just sat here since I got the W7 desk-top back.
Jim.
