Unfortunately I can't watch absolutely nothing on Channel 5 website because I live on the dark side of the British Channel.

Watched the program with somewhat mixed feelings. It was never going to be a pure " modellers" program and would need to have some entertainment element to appeal to a wider audience. Like a lot of programs based around people's interests you are going to see the good and the bad, I did not find it patronising though.

I would have liked to have spent more time showing the completed layouts even the one where the team bent the rules, it had some interesting features in the forced perspective. I agree the correct layout won and the judges were correct to judge the Missenden one on what was produced on the day. I believe the group are responsible for running modelling courses and probably saw this as an opportunity to advertise their business, their arrogance may back fire on them.

The scratch build challenge is a nonsense, like we all have a smelly old shoe laying around in our bits box just in case we might find a use for it The concept is OK but a better format might be to hand out a usable quantity of modelling materials with a mixture of more useful everyday items and ask the contestants to build a structure using as much of the available materials.

I will continue to watch the series if only to see other modellers approach to the hobby both from the creative and technical aspects.

Have you got a VPN? If so you can set it to a UK server.

I enjoyed the programme for what it is, a bit of entertainment based around model railway building. It is not an easy thing to make interesting to the masses but the producers have made a good fist of it.

If the programme gets people interested in model railways and building them, then that is another plus. Even my none railway modelling friends have sent me comments about the show, all of which centred around the amount of pre build stuff team 'Big Head' brought with them. Just how much of this part of the show was genuine and how much was designed to cause comment and a bit of 'I hope they don't win' I am not sure but it certainly created plenty of discussion in my house.


There is room for improvement but it is a good start and with luck there will be a second series or even other model railway series made which can only be good for our hobby.

The only discussion in my house, was indignation, when heather took remote and turned over to Masterchef Australia. Going to take delicate negotiations, to be allowed to watch it again

Invest in some way of recording - Newer modern TV's can record onto USB memory cards from an Aerial input.

Alternatively, investigate using a VPN to be able to access catch-up programs (probably illegal so check messsages and local rules.).

And of course, crazy copyright laws mean we can't watch it in Australia without paying for a VPN

I don't know what "TV system" you have in France, but Masterchef Australia is usually available on the "+1" channel after the current episode has just been shown - usually and hour or hour and a half later - it can be a long programme - and the series runs for months. Barry

Hi, Barry, we have full sky package. We often have to watch Masterchef Australia, later, as, from time to time early evening picture is difficult. Something to do with Astra. TV viewing ,is a bone of contention, as i only want light entertainment, and Heather wants serious stuff/. Storm chasers, and things that we never agree on. Being a cricket addict, i am permitted, all my one days/test matches, so, feel a tad obligated to let heather choose what we view, bearing in mind, come winter, i am upstairs, most evenings. She said, your model prog was on, but tolerated it, until that stupid shoe challenge. Thats the prob, with 2 remotes. Joking apart, i did not put up too much resistance, as i could not stand the bossy lady judge. Heather is a superb pastry cook, and spends a lot of time, baking, hence masterchef, and bake off/ other cookery progs. In the summer, by the time i come in from the garden usually, about 21.00, i am at the whatever is on stage, i can sleep through. Thanks for your message, will tactfully suggest that my model rail friends think i should follow the prog. Trouble with Red heads, is their short fuse. Will report back. john
