Morning all,

Just a small update today. I’ve had to redo some of the road which I’d previously laid. I wasn’t very happy with the overall finish. I also realised that the pavement I’d put down was lower than the road which didn’t look right. So I widened the road and put the pavement down on top. I didn’t like the colour of the road much either so I’ve given that a coat of of a slightly darker shade of grey.

Love the pub. I have just been modelling a tarmac road on Bleak Moor Quarry Shed. It’s a bit late for you now but I used very fine sandpaper with smears of filler/PVA to represent filled pot holes. A variety of shades of grey acrylic paints followed by black weathering powders seemed to do the job. I finished with white lines which I found best represented by white water colour pencils used dry. My pavement edges were made from sections of matchstick. Hope some of this helps you next time.

Not bad tips there. I had a couple of ideas, but I saw the smooth it products and thought I’d give them a try. It said use a mix of 2 parts cement mix, to 1 part water, but it dried far too quickly. So I did a 50/50 mix instead which I found worked much better and have a smoother finish. Although, I am modelling Britain so plenty of potholes make it super realistic 😁
