I guess this could be the equivalant to cutting the first sod on the line ...
On the left the frame of a 'bench' that will suppor the fiddle yard boards, above that brackets for the terminus station, at the back systek brackest for shelves that will probabaly house the large number of wagons that I hope to acquire over the years. A shirt board will bridge the gap betwen the fiddle yard and the shelf units on the right, two bays in that will house the intermediate station. Moving back to the camera the void in the pasaageway will have a removeable section to complete the circle although at it's a metre off the ground I'll duck under and only move the board if an exception load has to come out from the rest of the storage space that will still be used for 'real'life'

I am instantly reminded of a Gerard Depardieu film, where in describing Spain of the Middle Ages, he slams his beaker onto the table exclaiming, "sec!" I live in El Paso, Texas, a former Spanish acquisition, and we already have three things in common: model trains, unbearable heat, and "sec!"
Sounds like a most interesting venture, and your route into the whole affair. Best of luck, and hope to see more.
I sneak in a few Electrotren pieces, myself, as North Americans assume that anything with a buffer is European, ergo, British, by default.
Visited Spain on holiday, must have been back in '67, or so, and visited some prehistoric caves. Between Electrotren and Neanderthals, I have been smitten, ever since.

¡Hola! to you Chops. I guess you're talking about the film 1492: Conquest of Paradise? I havenot seem that and just rwad a review/synopsis that wasn't too complementary ... But with Sigourney Weaver and Gérard Depadieu heading the cast that's a surprise! It's certainly sec- 'dry' in Catalan (Spanish is seco), here as we havne't had any serious rainfall since April ...
You should come back sometime, you wonpt recognise the country as since 1967 it's been transpormed politically economically and culturally. But the railways are fabulous and there's even a railtour using Alco locomotives to make you feel at home - even if they do have buffers!

It was "The Return of Martin Guerre," a superb film in every way a film can be superb. So much I would like to see in Spain, so much history and antiquity.

Unfortunately tubi isn't available in Europe. I'm sure you could use a US VPN and bypass the checks on location and it would be legal according to some websites detailing how.

That was the second film on my shortlist! I don't think I've seen it but I know the story, possibly from a BBC radio play. Mustn't dwell further as any more would reveal spoilers... Back to matters modelling; the room is now ready for me to build and install the baseboards, two of which I'll have to build on site, then mark out the layout with the trackwork in place, mark and drill holes for the wiring - I'm having some problems sourcing materials for this! - then install the track and wey hey!
I'm out for the day on my motorbikes and will be there to swap them over - it's true I can't ride both at once

As promised - and none of your planning software, life's too short!
As you can see a simple and conventional end to end plan. The section 'A' serves to make a continuous circuit to 'test' - aka play trains, but in timetable use isn't used as such, rather it's a layby for an autocar train to take refune in while other traus enter and depart the fiddle yard.
The idea is to model the Bishops's Castle Railway's proposed line to Montgomery Junction on the Cambrian/GWR and the GWR/LNWR entention of its Minsterly branch to a joint station at Montgomery itself - not on this map buy riughtly where the 'y' in Monty is. The plans were ¡for a triangle junction east of Chrirbury and a sput off to Monty west of Ciribury. In my model tge passing station is Chirbury with both junctions 'off set' as it were.
'Prope'r trains go up and down to Shrewsbury while the ex-BCR line is served by the push-pull, which calls in at Montgomery but in returning to Chirbury reverses again and on to Montgomery Junction and then back again, so lots of reversing onto the up and down lines at Chribury and the need to uses the circulat low level track to appear to go 'down' and then 'up' if that makes sense ...
This is a better map that also covers the whole of the BCR's thwared ambitions ...Note that in fact the BCR got Royal Assent for the Mintselry bracnh rather than the GWR. I'm pretending that this was the reverse

Do be careful on those motor bikes. Some uninsured kid swerved neatly in front of me in a pick up truck. Helmet saved my head from being
split open. Laid me out on the asphalt soaked in petrol from a ruptured tank unconscious as a block of wood. They scraped up my remains
and sent me off to hospital for an unexpected visit. Six months later I am still in pain and find stairs and walking a challenge.
