I used 70mm and a Class 90 with a down panto has bags of clearance.

No apology needed and I'm sorry if my reply across as a rebuke. I just feel that people are continually being dissuaded from adding inclines to their layout and with modern rolling stock I don't think it's necessary. Mine are not perfect and they work fine. I had a problem at the bottom once with an HST but that was actually on a flat curve and was due to a manufacturing defect that I fixed.

I guess peoples ideas on this matter will differ. If you are having success then go for it. Just make sure if you landscape the layout you can easily access all the bit going under.

Theres always one, who has to ignore advice which has been a standard in modelling for years. I hope not to many follow his gung ho ideas, and i quote his own words " I tend to make it up as I go along but so far its all worked out"

As opposed to the person who makes disparaging remarks about other hobbiest's efforts or tries to curtail their enjoyment by trying to make them do it 'the proper way' - whatever that is supposed to be?

We're not trying to build actual railways here. If something doesn't quite work we can just tear it and down and try a different way. No-one gets hurt. Nothing about railway modelling matters other than that the modeller enjoy the experience and is pleased with the result. Some of us like problem solving and I enjoy the challenge of making something work.

No-one appointed you or anyone else as a 'referee' on the hobby itself and as a 'referee' on these forums you'd do better to offer encouragement and kind words to new members instead of making snide remarks. You do the hobby and this forum no favours.

Other people claim this is a friendly forum. Well it isn't when you get involved in my experience.
