A neighbour was told by his insurer that they would only pay for his roof damage if the wind was over 60mph - no problem there. I guess they calculate that if something comes adrift in a light breeze then it is more likely to be due to lack of maintenance ie ‘your own bl@@dy fault’.
I would be very surprised if the O2 is not covered by insurance of some form or another, whoever owns it.
Don't O2 own it?

I have heard of AEG. Are they an electric company or some other big company? They will have some sewing to do to repair the damage I expect.

You're thinking of the German AEG company - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AEG

The O2 name only refers to the arena in the centre. There are all sorts of others things nothing to do with O2, theatre, bowling, cinema, restaurants etc., but O2 wrongly gets used for the whole place. We love going there.

I thought it was called the Millenium Dome. I believe it is an enterainmrnt centre. Never been there. Long way to go from Gretna to see a film or game of balls.
I didn't think it was much of a monument to build for the new millenium though. Some countries built wonderfull monuments, what did we build, A tent.

The dome, like many special event buildings, was only ever intended to be temporary. Also, like many special event buildings (eg Eiffel tower) they stay in use well past the intended date!
