Sorry to hear you're having trouble with my images, Andy. If you get a picture of a little Japanese girl with a plastic panda on a lead, it's just a sign that flickr is busy. Any other aggro, let me know.

Cheers,
Artur

Yes, it worked fine. It is quite a size but had to look again to see any arcing. I am glad to not be the one doing the ballasting :D .

If I understand you correctly, mmjj, I'm also thankful that I won't have to ballast these tracks. They're all hidden sidings and loops. That test train has been up and down every siding and I've not seen any more arcing so far. I'm grateful for that, too. Maybe it depends on the loco. One older model on the roster is a Hamo (2-rail Märklin) class 03/10 Pacific. She had to have additional pickups under the tender bogies to stop the arcing (this was on the old layout) and a pickup on the back of one driving wheel because the mere axle in the chassis block wasn't enough to get the current to the motor. Märklin clearly hadn't got 2-rail properly sorted when I bought that model in 1973.

Cheers,
Artur

Hello Artur
Wow this is some layout you've got going on here, I am most impressed and looking forward to watching it develop. I'm sorry if the photo I attached on my post has not quite cleared up your question regarding my trackwork. I could write out a listing of the rail sections used if you wish.

Many thanks for your kind compliments, Dublo. Things have slowed down a bit as I'm wrestling with the design and construction of the control panels for the hidden tracks (plus a touch of lumbago).

Cheers,
Artur

Re your HD track layout, I'm replying on your Little Weldon thread.

Work on the control panels has progressed a bit further. The theoretical design has proved to be practical but my handicraft skills are not really up to the job, I must confess. I toyed with the idea of having the so called "islands" lasercut professionally with NC technology but the price would have been horrendous.

The work is documented in more detail on flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/53775591@ ... 3524354145

Artur
