I’m really pleased with the board joints, never an easy thing to get right but maybe I’ve finally cracked it.

A trip to the dentist got in the way today but I have finished painting some detail bits I picked up at the weekend.
Postman delivered a couple of platform canopy kits for me to play with next.

If the platform canopy kits are like mine, you will need your glasses - there are some very small pieces.

I bought the Wills versions - a bit of kit-bashing needed as they are too wide for my narrow platform. Before anyone says anything, I knew that before I ordered them, so they will be semi lowrelief.
They need to be removable and will hopefully be wired for lights so they will likely have a version of my ‘brass rod in tube’ system although I do have some very small pins and plugs to experiment with.

The main construction and painting of the low relief canopy is done. The lights have been installed - LEDs bridging two brass rods in the rafters. The brass rod runs inside the two outer canopy supports and will plug into two short lengths of brass tube set into the platform - provides electrical contact and a positive location while still being removable when necessary.

Temporarily reinstated to the shed to test the lights - not entirely happy with the LEDs used so I may have to change them after a rummage in the bits box.
Also added a couple of the sleeper piles I painted the other day along with my first attempt at modelling wildflowers (fireweed).

Looks very good - your usual standard. Is there any way of getting the lights under the canopy to give an overall spread of light rather than the "pool" shown on the platform? I recall having this problem in both the engine shed and goods shed - I fitted shades to the LED's, but this concentrated the light straight down.
