Still waiting for the delivery of transfers.
It seems MMJ may have discontinued their version ref NE001 but I have an email out to them to confirm - interesting to see if/when I get a reply.
In the meantime I have an order placed with HMRS who are also hiding behind the Covid restrictions excuse. This order is not only for the LNER project but also for an LMS project just received.
Shall we open a book on possible delivery dates?

Re: Painting and Weathering Service
I just received an e-mail from HMRS to day that one of the sheets I ordered is out of stock- no ides which one as I have a few orders in with them, but at least I know someone is looking at my orders. I will try the offered pressfix rather than the preferred methfix version.
Meanwhile, still not a peep from MM-J, neither regarding the orders nor the follow up email.

Re: Painting and Weathering Service
Sets of transfers for LNER and LMS have arrived from HMRS!!!!!!
Very different from anything I have used in the past - rather than slide the transfers off the backing these have to be put in position, wetted, left for a bit and then the backing (which is on the front) is peeled off.
I will have a little practice before attempting anything ‘special’ and maybe it’s a good job I have a couple of days off work this week.

Are they called pressfix. I have used them for many years, pretty good results. There is also a methfix version.
Nurse, the screens!

I bought both versions so I will always have something in stock.Walkingthedog wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 2:08 pm Are they called pressfix. I have used them for many years, pretty good results. There is also a methfix version.
Meanwhile, still no word from MM-J.

Re: Painting and Weathering Service
On Thursday I attempted my first ‘methfix’ transfer on a piece of spare plastic - it’s a very different way of applying transfers involving putting the transfers on dry, adding a mix of meths/water then pressing into place. Waterslide transfers they are not!
That went well so I started on the tenders - pressing on the transfers left what looked like a greasy fingerprint. After drying I find that in fact the meths had softened the paint!
If I was going there be stuck with using this type of transfer in future then I needed a device to replace my fingertip.
One drawer knob, short length of tube and a pencil rubber later the device has been created.

Unfortunately the new transfers can’t be reactivated like waterslide transfers and they stick like you know what!
So a sanding with 2000 grit wet and dry and a respray was called for - that was yesterday. Today the transfers went back on and apart from a final coat of varnish and some reassembly of the handrails tomorrow, the job is nearly there.
That’s how long it should have taken in the first place!!
