Thanks for giving this some thought, it actually is a lift out section, but I get so fed up of trying to align 4 sets of double track that I’ve taken to crawling under. I really should just lift it out and save my knees, alignment takes, what, five minutes :D

I had a lift out section for years but hardly ever used it as it meant unplugging leads to it then plugging them back together etc., so last month I hinged it, my knees sent me a thank you letter.

That looks good, I’m going to give it some more thought, I know it’s doable.

I have a lift-up section rather than a lift-off. It is wired very simply - enough slack in all wires to enable section to be raised an lowered. The lift-up section has a large section of platform (with lights), a powered turntable and three point motors, and of course the bus cables. All have survived twelve years of going up and down with no chaffing of the wires. I would also add that across the joint there is a five track fiddle yard and a two track branch line, the rail joints match up perfectly after every "lift-up". I do tend to leave it down and crawl underneath - the back and knees are still working ok :)

Once again I can’t believe how much time has passed since my last post; it goes to show how slow progress has been. I was going to wait until further progress had been made, but then the likely update would be next summer :o

So the first terrace houses on the sloping terrace are made, just a few more additions such as gutters and down pipes. The corner shop and ‘Red Lion’ are on their way.

The pencil lines give an indication of the road and the junction for the entrance to the shed. A likely few hours in there tonight, but I dare say there will be little to show for it; I really need to run some trains, it’s been weeks.

I assume from the wires coming from the corner shop (second picture), all the buildings will be lit? No trains moving on Wykeham for ages - the dust is gathering :o The buildings are looking good.

BB - yes the buildings will be lit; I’ve divided some of the interiors so lighting will be limited to certain rooms, as opposed to lighting the whole house like Blackpool illuminations. Except…. the first pair of houses, I’ve forgot to put the curtains up :o , so I think that pair may go up for sale

Stained glass went in tonight

And…… I actually ran some trains :D

A good start to the year, in the shed on day one. Wishing everyone a rejuvenated mojo :D

Lovely layout - folded eight?

Thank you BB, yes it is; I wanted a long continuous run, then the shed and yard, and goods yard give the shunting layout aspect of operations. One or two mistakes along the way and things I wish I’d thought of, or changed, but isn’t that the ‘fun’ of model railways :D
