My dad went to New York on the Queen Mary in 29 September 1943 to get a landing craft. We stayed on it in 2007 and told my dad and he said see if you can go on B Deck. When we checked in the receptionist said your cabin is on B deck. I thought blimey I hope we don’t have hammocks.

That will probably be the United States and America in the first picture.

This is a good book.

Yes. Also there is front to back): SS Constitution(or Independence); SS America; SS United States; SS Olympia; RMS Queen Elizabeth(arriving); RMS Mauritania(rear).

It sure was. 'Luxury Liner Row' in New York is now (last time I visited) a multitude of other businesses. Carnival Corporation ships (Carnival, Cunard, Costa, Holland America etc.) now berth in Brooklyn. Royal Caribbean International (RCI, Celebrity etc) and Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) berth at Staten Island. No more getting off the ship and immediately in Manhattan.
