If it's any help I resize the image to approx. 230kb.

Most other forums I will resize to approx. 500 - 600 kb but on this forum that is rejected as excessive. Resizing to fit the forum is no problem.

I did some tests a couple of days ago and had to go down to under 200kb before it was accepted as an attachment. Problem then was it showed up postage stamp size. I deleted all my test posts immediately so as not to upset the admins!

I tried signing up for a Flickr account but opted out when they were asking far too much (IMO) access to data on my PC.

I'm uploading from my PC direct. The photos I take I normally resize down to 500 - 600 Kbs using Paint anyway so the extra bit of resizing is no problem. I just save the resized ones with a different name. I have an Imgur account which is free, but now that many forums are using the direct upload system I've switched to that.

If you cannot load directly from your device and need an outside hosting system then I suggest Imgur. It is like Photobucket used to be in the beginning before they went marketing mad and then decided to charge a premium for posting of images on other sites. I just walked away from them - I was only using PB for posting images that I already had stored either on my PC or on thumb drives so nothing was lost.

I also choose to upload direct from my PC and did so dozens of times on the old forum without any problem whatsoever. I also use MS Paint to resize and clip photos - never been an issue before.

Flickr have announced that they are reducing storage on the free plan from 1TB to 1000 images. The cost of moving to the Pro plan will be reduced by 30% (currently $50 USD) until 30 Nov for free plan account holders. R-

I read yesterday that Flickr will delete any photos over the new storage limit by the end of the year. When I first joined I had activated their autoloader on my phone - result was way too many in storage. I have now deleted all my pictures and am slowly reloading the ones I want to post on here and editing the links on previous posts.

In the (very small) print on their website is....

*Free members with more than 1,000 photos or videos uploaded to Flickr have until Tuesday, January 8, 2019, to upgrade to Pro or download content over the limit. After January 8, 2019, members over the limit will no longer be able to upload new photos to Flickr. After February 5, 2019, free accounts that contain over 1,000 photos or videos will have content actively deleted -- starting from oldest to newest date uploaded -- to meet the new limit.

other services such as dropbox may be a suitable alternative. files are easily stored and shared with readable links.

a basic account is free and starts with 2GB of space. other services may give you more.

For sites that don't have the capacity to directly link to one's computer I use Imgur. It's free and works similarly to how Photobucket worked before it got taken over by marketing whiz kids. I dropped Photobucket when it started charging a price for indifferent storage and constant interruptions with advertisements. None of the pics I had on it were stored solely there so there was nothing lost - I keep photos backed up separately.
