If I had to have an end to end I don’t think I’d bother with a layout. I like to have something trundling round while I enjoy myself gluing my fingers together.

I did have one of those on my loft layout for a small branch line. Much prefer a roundy roundy.

I have found a fair degree of variability in Hornby points. Some operate very crisply, but others are very ‘lazy’. I’ve had to swap out two so far with my local model shop, as locos. would derail on them. It will be interesting to see what happens when I add point motors, a job that I’m not looking forward to.
