Frustratingly the Hornby forum is still not working, I wonder if by the time they do switch it on again most of the regulars will have given up and gone elsewhere. However fortunately we do have MRF an excellent and friendly site. Long may it prosper!

Never came across a forum that had the look of Hornbys nor its pathetically slow upload of a post which invariably meant the posting button was clicked again thinking it had not registered the first only to find eventually when the page refreshed a duplicated or triplicated posting.

I have had a brief look at their online catalogue and I honestly have to say that the few pages I have looked at are really impressive.
I saw a thing to click on that selects locos that can go round 1st radius curves as they make the best donor locos for me to convery to 7mm narrow gauge, and I was amazed to see a lovely littlw shunter using the Percy body. Not only that but there are several really interesting items, especially little diesels. Actually, I am impressed and it is really exciting what I have seen!
The ability to select locos that one knows will go round 1st radius curves is a really good feature. Ok, my narrow gauge goes round much tighter curves, but I do little modifications to do this and I do not expect some of the models to do it as standard, but for 00 gauge enthusiasts who do not have the space and have to resort to 1st radius, this feature is such a blessing and is practical too. Well done Hornby!

I can't see what all the fuss is about regardng the Hornby forum while we have a perfectly good platform (excuse pun) with our own MRF here.
I was a member (still am I suppose) of the Hornby forum a few years back but frankly found it to be quite boring with long running threads about when Hornby would finally introduce track occupancy modules for instance.
Hornby is just one manufacturer. They make fine models I grant you but the hobby as a whole as discussed on these pages is SO much bigger. This thread is like Totteham Hotspur fans discussing Arsenal team tactics! (These are British football teams by the way for the uninitiated
)
