I think I read in one of the mags about a challenge where several people made something like this and they joined them together to make a layout.

Needless to say I can't now find the magazine.

I too have read about a modular layout made from many sections. I don't get mags about railways, so it was on the net.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FREMO seems to describe what I read in the past.

and here

Maybe one (or more) of the magazines did a feature article.

Like all previous comments, nothing but priase for this, it's simply stunning. I'd love to see what you'd do on something bigger.

Super pictures and detail. As said before, the interior detail makes all the difference - first class.

Thank you for all the positive comments everyone - as supportive as ever. Now that M & J Brewery Sidings is almost complete except for people/animals and some minor detailing I was thinking of extending it using another recently discovered box file (my wife tried to sneak it into the car before I went to the tip! ) The question is, what could be modelled on this box file. It would come before the brewery box file ie enter from the right under the bridge. Locos could still exit the brewery under the brewery building arch and run onto the fiddle stick. Any suggestions as to what could be modelled in relation to the brewery box file would be much appreciated as always. Many thanks.
P.S. I need something to do. Jobs are still scarce, the weather is c**p and it’s driving me bonkers being inside.

M & J Brewery Sidings is finished so I’ve posted some final pictures. It has 2 fiddlesticks decorated with beer signs and a simple clip on light illuminates the layout. Surprisingly, locos run really well over the insulfrog points and inset track. It’s been a real challenge to work within the footprint of an A4 box file but I’ve been amazed at how much I’ve fitted in whilst still retaining I hope a spacious feel. I hope this might encourage others with limited space at home to have a go at such a ‘layout’. I’ll definitely build another one once I’ve completed my other projects.
Thanks for looking and giving advice where needed.

Excelent modelling. IMO this is worth putting in an exhibition (remember those?)
