Gents.
As this area is the "Welcome" to the Forum area, can you start a new topic and continue the discussion in perhaps the Layout Track and Design section here
viewforum.php?f=7 _ Thank you.
We can move posts from here to that new section once started should any of the moderators consider it will add to the new topic.

Hello Brian, thanks for this, I was thinking along the same lines myself but was worried that so far my 'layout' consists of numerous boxes containing track, points, accessories, etc., a couple of locos, some carriages, a load of MDF and battens waiting for me to collect from LeRoy Merlin some hundred miles awa. Furthermore there are more packages winging their way across Europe with wiring material, switches, controllers and, er, another locomotive
But maybe it would be a good idea to post now so that people can see the project evolve - and offer advice and
contructive criticism as I go forward.

Looks to be a most interesting layout. Hope time allows you to post your progress.
Do be careful on those motor bikes. Some uninsured kid swerved neatly in front of me in a pick up truck. Helmet saved my head from being
split open. Laid me out on the asphalt soaked in petrol from a ruptured tank unconscious as a block of wood. They scraped up my remains
and sent me off to hospital for an unexpected visit. Six months later I am still in pain and find stairs and walking a challenge.
Hi, sorry to read about your crash. I't's a nighmare that we all face every time we pull our gloves on ... I have my shared of broken bones and sadly some long term issues. As I tinnk I said at the beginning building my railway is a stage along the lines of packing in the bikes and growing old in a gentlemanly fashion, but not yet ... noy yet!
Meanwhile taking my cue from Brian's post I'll start a new topic about my layout - it's far from 'sunny' here in the Pyrenees now so I have a few moments' leisure to write up the first step.
Take good care buddy and remember ATGATT rule for riding - All The Gear All The Time!

PS was the bike OK? What is/was it?
