Has anyone found source of latching reed switches? I've been looking but only found ones that are pretty expensive

The link in Steve's post #23 has them. Fourth up from the bottom. They wont be cheap though as there is little call for them!

At the moment I have fitted little dip switches on the bottom of the chassis but a latching reed switch would be nice, but not too fussed to change from a dip switch

I did a flashing red LED controller using a 8 pin microcontroller on a guards van.
I had a small switch beneath the van to turn it on/off.
LED's cant be driven by voltage but only a current so need a resistor in series with them for long life.
Occasionally you can get away with just a battery but its not normally recommended.
