cadman wrote: Thu Feb 28, 2019 10:17 pm John......you need to have the hinges mounted on blocks above the track level in order that the the track on the flap lifts away from the join or, better still, have the flap hinged to fold downwards. When brought up to level it is then held horizontally by two shoot bolts.

Sorry Cadman.......... I should have said, the hinges there at moment are just couple of small ones I had laying around which I used to make sure everything lined up and fitted. I have been trying to find some angled hinges which offer a small lift to the door or flap. Must say I have not found any yet. I know you can get them because I saw some on a video but no idea where the chap got them,

Have been so busy over the last month with things around the garden and sheds have not had much done in the railway room.
Have just taken delivery of a few new points and starting to get some track down.
Just ordered this back scene and have to get some thin ply to stick it on.

As mentioned above I have just received the first part of the background and not removed it from the tube yet. Do you think that wallpaper paste is the bast way to stick it onto thin plywood after sealing the ply of course.

I used to buy the Brian Sheriff backscenes and I used to love looking at them. It was a case where I would see more and more little scenes just within the backscenes.

Last pic taken hinges are raised up on blokes now and the level 2 first section is finnished. Work held up because taking advantage of good weather in the summer to get on with our garden which was nothing much better than a field.

Nice progress, very professional looking base board. As for the garden, perhaps you might
purchase a few goats or sheep and be done of it!!! :)

Love the back scenes: the rolling hills of Britain, as I remember from my youth, sitting in a
dining car, gliding past.

Thanks Chops . A good an idea Chops about goats and sheep for use of a lawn mower but the toouble is they eat everything else as well. There is a pub about a mile away and he has some sheep for a lawn mowers. He has a caravan site to to keep the grass cut. He says the campers love em.
