I made a little more progress yesterday. PTFE tube has been cut to length, and laid in the channels that were cut for it. After that a load of filler was used as filler to hopefully hold it in place.

The control panel end is purposefully loose to allow for some fettling to get the movement smooth.

It will need a little sanding down once cured, but seems to have done the job so far on inspection this morning.

Work and life in general has got in the way lately, however today after a second coat of filler went on last week, I have attacked it with an electric sander.

More work to do, and some places will nedd some extra filler.

All wires still move nice and smooth in the tubes, so far.

Thanks for those piccies. It will help me in deciding what to do when (if) I get to that stage . Also to be careful how much 'stuff' I put on as it has to be sanded off. You have made it look so simple and workable. I shall be watching with interest . I think it is within my skill factor as well .

Moved a tiny bit forward.

Sited my leverframe, cut away a bit more cork, allowing some more play, and keeps the wires flat.

Tested the fitting of one wire, which will attach to the one in the tube using terminal block innards.

Quite happy.

Sanded some more, now level where required.

Starting a new job tonight so that is all for now.

A bit late now I appreciate but when I laid my wire in tube I stuck strips of card over the tubes to keep them in place. Seems to have worked well and nothing to sand down.

Long time no post. Life gets in the way sometimes.

Electrics proper time.

IRJ's are on order, will arrive at the weekend.

Soldering practiced, haven't burnt my fingers too bad.

What seemed like a good idea, but nessessary, a wiring diagram created. More soldering required than I thought.

I know I'm going overboard with 6 switchable sections, plus the main centre section permanently live, but it's a good way to learn, and i want a shunting layout with at least two shunters on DC.

I have completed a second soldering test. It looks like i can somehow get current flowing.

Insulated rail joiners have been installed and tested.

Track has now been glued down, ready for electrical connections to be attached once dry.

A slight update. Drilled 30 holes ready for soldering electrical connections. Start soldering tomorrow.
