A long way from home.
Occasionally Class 50s made their way to Leeds Central on the Plymouth to Leeds Express Service. (I have a picture of one departing Central Station on its return to Plymouth.)
Here is 50007 'Hercules' on such a service being diverted via Sovereign Street, Stourton Junction rejoining the main line south at Lofthouse.

Another engine a long way from home. Inverness based Class 37 37026 'Glencairn' on its way to Newcastle diverted on the old Leeds, Scarcroft and Wetherby line; then to York and Newcastle.

Hi bulleidboy.
I made them a sort of traditional way. A little plastic coated wire twisted and shaped. Added light brown decorators moss to the shape I wanted. Sprayed it with cheap hairspray. Ground cover sprinkled over the moss and sprayed again with the hairspray. About ten minutes per tree using moss I have had a few years. Where they are on the layout is 'a little in the distance'.
I have used the moss before, but only as bushes for ground cover. I thought I would give making some trees a go. (Got plenty of time.
