The project to refurbish the shed is finally done. Painted the other day and this morning I fitted the locks to the door. Also got the extractor fan working (third attempt) after actually reading the instructions.
Now I must get round to clearing the pile of rubbish piled outside the garage.

For anyone that is interested, the plaque on the door was my father-in-law’s apprentice piece from his time at Chatham Dockyard and is about 75 year’s old.

That's a nice and tidy job you've done there Steve - now to put it to some use. The Harland & Wolff sign looks very well placed. Sort of thing that normally lies about for years gathering dust. Well done. Barry

PS: Would the sign normally have been finished in colours?

I guess it would, and I have been tempted. As it is, it’s just an alloy casting - nice link to the old boy.

Give him time. About 5 years should do the weathering and the wiper marks can be placed after a very heavy downpour leaves the dust from the air on the windows!

I can imagine the verdigris climbing up from the base...

Did you give the H&W plaque a coat of lacquer to stop it corroding.

The weathering has already started - our resident wood pigeons are using it for target practice and our local foxes have peed on it.
Rob, no I haven’t lacquered it - I wish I had when I got it from the old man around 20 years ago though.
And, believe it or not, I cleaned the windows - they still had overspray from when the original shed was built. The inside of the glass seems to have a thin layer of grey primer - can’t imagine where that came from.
