A further update on the layout

I have added a rock face to it as it never really had a decent looking one
Made it using gypsum and foil, worked like a charm

I’ve given the first coat of paint and texture to the rock face here are the results ( needs a coat of mat as well )

also I have added a oo gauge tree in the background of the mountain , would it be a good idea to add it there for depth???

i got real coal
smashed it up
passed some of it from a couple of sieves and added some slightly larger pieces by hand
made a platform out of card added pva added fine coal then added the more coarse , used wattered down pva glue in a spray bottle in sprayed it on top till they stayed in place

Looking good Zeno. What about adding bits of scatter between rocks and perhaps a range of other subtle colours to break up the grey.

Nothing looks like coal better than coal.

Wish I still lived in our old house in N. London. We had a coal cellar and there was always plenty of small bits of the stuff. But that was before I took up the hobby. Can't find it it round here for love nor money LOL.

I put out an appeal to the members of the Trust I’m part of. One member had some.

The last lump I had was picked up at Didcot years ago..

Can't you just buy a bag of coal down the garage or supermarket..? TW the garage off the A10 at Bexwell sells it.
