I hate cloves. Could I substitute a drop more whiskey?
Whenever I make a hot toddy no one ever needs more whiskey.

Perhaps we should rename this the ‘Dipsomaniacs Model Railway Forum’?
In other news, I am back at work but when I stood outside sniffing on a Vicks Sinex, a customer genuinely though I was snorting something else.
I just wish I could breathe.

Those who know, say vic sinex makes it worse by prolonging problem. Heather has a menthol sniffing thingy, that apparently clears nasal passages, without prolonging problem. Just saying.

Heather is quite correct John, prolonged use can make the ‘tubes’ lazy. I’m trying to be brave by only using Utabon when it’s at its worst........but I am very weak willed.
Time to go off topic but this is still an ooops moment and proof that the world loves to kick you when you are down.
We have one of those fancy pop up plugs in our bathroom sink - at the weekend it stopped locking in the closed position.
As I was feeling up to the task today, I started to strip out the old waste trap. It’s only 10 years old but I soon found that the retaining nut and down pipe from the sink had corroded. Not only would it not undo but the corrosion had expanded and cracked the underside of the sink. It looked remarkably like mazak rot!
Any way, the sink had to come out as well - I had forgotten how sharp broken ceramic is and almost ran out of Elastoplasts.
I won’t know for certain until it’s delivered, but I have been able to source the same make of sink so I’m hoping it will fit in the existing hole in the vanity top.
I will also have to replace the tap and all the pipework while I’m at it.
Not a bill I had planned on paying this month.

Taint nothing to do with me, but twas it mine, i would have claimed from insurance. A cracked sink caused by an accident, is covered. I know, cos we had a similar problem and they paid.

Wouldn’t have gained much after paying the excess.
Fortunately, I can plumb.

That bl**dy excess. Makes me wonder why we bother with insurance. Know in some cases it’s law [cars, personal liability etc.] but honestly I get the cheapest car insurance I can on the basis that they won’t pay out anyway. I just need to satisfy a legal requirement. R-

Another thumbs up for insurance eh Roger. I reckon if you contacted an insurance company to make a claim and they said no problem we’ll send you a cheque you’d collapse.

Now then thats the difference between countries. I ran over a concrete wall, and wrecked volvo gearbox. I swerved to avoid a departing white van. Insurance has tow truck there within 50 minutes. Garage said needed new auto box. insurance took us by taxi 60 miles to collect loan car for 6 weeks, the n paid taxi back home. They located guaranteed recon box, and paid garage bill of £3300. Add 6 weeks hire, plus b/down, taxis, etc, £4500. Asked me for £600 excess, some£480 in french money. Dont think anyone would fault that. I pay £48 month, fully comp.
