I spent a week at Treasure Island in the 90s, very nice.

In keeping with the theme. A lot closer to home and not quite as exotic, but easily as scenic. Where am I about to visit?

Correct.
Used as the opening location for 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' and about 10 miles from Estoril, Portugal.
We stayed in the same hotel that the cast used - a renovated Napoleonic era fort on the headland overlooking the beach.
