I finally tracked down the goods shed I wanted for the yard - Skaledale GNR version based on the one at Goathland. What I didn’t realise was that the doors are cast in the closed position. Quite protypical as the corresponding building at Goathland is a cafe these days.
I carefully cut out the cast doors and built some replacements from plasticard. I also cobbled together a loading platform from the parts bin and added a Ratio crane.

I’ve also added a texture finish to the yard area - I have a weighbridge to fit it here’s somewhere. While I was at it, the ballasting and weathering of the track was done along with the static grass. I still have to add ‘clutter’ and some static tufts to this area - hopefully I can pick up some odds and ends at the Hornby Visitor Centre at the weekend and at Ally Pally later in the month.

That all looks very good Steve - certainly up to your usual standards. Barry

No chance of that, the ground work is superb.

The weighbridge has found its way on t the layout.

Now more detail work is being added close to the front of the layout I have added a strip of Perspex to the layout side - I salvaged a few lengths of damaged shelf edging from work and cut the broken bits off.
It also helps keep ‘little fingers’ off the layout - found a land rover using a coal drop as a garage after a recent visit.

That weighbridge is very nice, makes me think I need to make some improvements to mine.

Nice feature. Is the building the right way round Steve?

Ah looks right now I can see the door. Not many people have weigh bridges.
