Some wall lights arrived from China this morning - another distraction from building some signals.

Great pictures - especially the first one - the guy looks bored and can't wait for his shift to end.

This week I made a start on the first of the signals for West Orton. I have a number of the Ratio L&NWR kits and this is probably the only one that will be built according to the instructions as I will need to choose between a gantry location or modifying the kits to make a triple.
Uncharacteristicly slow, this one post has taken three days so far as I am leaving plenty of drying time. I want strong joints as I am tempted to dabble with the black art of servo control.
Pray for me.

Five days in and I am quickly learning to detest these signal kits.
The cranks do not fit as described in the ‘instructions’, they have to go in upside down or they foul the brackets. The brackets seem to have a built in fault line causing them to crack at the slightest touch. And the supplied wire is too thick for the holes in the cranks, causing them to split.

It as my hope that I could build these in their manual working mode with a view to adding servos at a later date - it’s not going to happen for the bracket signals at least.
And I still don’t have a completed signal to show for my efforts.
