Hi Chops,
Great looking model you will have a lot of fun with that!
If you do a search on YouTube for “Trainspotting Programme Eight” you should find a program that was made in 2002, one of the articles is about the Police liveried Class 47.

Cheers, Dave.

Several years of luckless searching later, I posted an inquiry under "Wanted" in this forum, and within an hour some kind fellow directed me to two. Seller says it runs well enough, and hope it does, it has been a very, very long time in the coming.

First time I saw this, I thought I'd rupture my spleen from laughing so hard. British humor is without equal.

This arrived a couple of weeks ago. I watched it on Ebay for sometime - I put in an offer which was refused - then the seller reduced the price - tried a further offer, which was accepted. The loco is based on the Hornby Holland-Afrika Line, factory fitted with the Loksound decoder. It has been "weathered" and real coal in the tender. I have given the decoder a new number, and it works well.
The seller has a large number of loco's on Ebay, most are based on the models factory fitted with the Loksound decoder, and others have had the TTS sound fitted. I will not be tempted

That would be an old v3.5 or v4.0 21-pin ESU decoder if factory fitted. Hornby TTS factory fit is 8-pin and much later.

Apparently the Post Office have a parcel containing a pre-order that has come via a retailer rather than direct from Hornby!
After Hornby’s attacks on retailers earlier this year, that comes as a very pleasant surprise. ;)

Even more surprised to find the price is still 10% less than the RRP in the catalogue.

But it had this loose in the box, not sure what it is.

Is it DCC. I think it is a blanking plate to replace the decoder if you want to use analogue.

Thank you for that information, I had ordered a DC one, but looking
on other forums it appears that some are receiving DCC fitted.
I have given mine a quick run around the Christmas tree, and
is works ok. Just another query when I handle the tender
I can hear something rattling inside, does anyone know
what it might be.

I received this a few days ago, I had ordered a DC one but received a DCC fitted one instead.
There was also something loose in the tender rattling around.
So today I opened up the tender, the glass at the locomotive end of the tender had just popped out
so just put that back adding a spot of glue to hold it in place, also swapped the DCC chip
for the supplied blanking plate, all fitted back together again and running well.
Fitting the blanking plate also removed the bright red glow that was illuminating the cab.

David.
