I fell in love with your garden BB when I saw it. It is credit to you. I could not keep up with one that size any more that is one of the reasons we moved to Gretna. And thanks WTD . The pots and beach pebbles replaced the grass which makes the garden easy to look after with no grass and edges to cut and trim. :D

Pleased you like the garden Sandy - but it was not always like this. The house (one of forty seven) was a new-build in 1976/77 - we moved in on April 1st 1977, and the garden was just a patch of soil full of builders junk. At that time, Ideal Home Magazine (still available) offered a garden planning and planting service - you told them the plot size, which direction it faced, whether you wanted a path, greenhouse, patio etc., etc. - so we used this service, and if you look at the plan today (we still have it), it still looks the same - the cost of this service £5.00 :o

When we bought the house the small back garden was like Chesil Beach, all stones, so it had to go, especially with two pups joining the throng, so we opted for plastic grass. Just needs a sweep now and then and it is resisting wear from two mad dogs.
Railway sleepers for border edging with jury rigged ‘fencing’ to stop the pups (now a year old) eating plants they shouldn’t. Hydrangea leaves made them sick all morning. Did they learn from it - no.
We dumped the old shed to make the patio area bigger and opted for a small greenhouse. I put a plastic deck in front of the conservatory, which has had the flat plastic roof replaced by a hipped tiled one.

Looks nice RAF. You talk about puppys eating Hydranger leaves. I put in 3 new Hydranger plants last year and they wer small but lovely this year but last spring Black Birds stripped all the shoots and leaves from them and now they are just bare storks. Dont know if they will recover again. Where is Titchmarsh when he is needed. :)

JUst wondering RAF what paint you used for the fence. It looks nice. I want to paint my shed this year but I want a good quality paint which lasts more than one season. Was thinking Sadolin but it is very expencive.

Cuprinol Garden Shades - colour is Dusky Gem. Very runny so it needs a few coats. Works on bare or treated wood. Can be sprayed. We shall see how long it lasts.
