Thank You for your kind words. Regarding the painting of the Castle the temptation to colour and weather it fully is really strong, but if I did would it harmonise with rest of the layout. Already it is the only building on the layout not an original HD product or made from card. Rule one comes into play here. Yes indeed Corfe Castle was my original source of inspiration for Little Weldon's Castle unfortunately if I was to model this I only have enough space for the Gatehouse.

I have started the construction of the Castle's Bailey walls at the moment these are being built with standard Linka tiles. I am carrying out deforestation as and when I determine the line of the build. Because of the nature of the landscaping I am shaping both the tops and bottoms, some tiles are having additional tiles added to the tops. I am assembling the sections into panels which will help with the painting off board. Hopefully they will then be able to be assembled in one session on the layout.The panels are temporarily held in place with plastering this is to give me an idea as to how the build is going. Also to help me decide on how to shape the next tile. At the moment I am thinking that I may be able to build a Watchtower. Once the remainder of the Bailey wall is constructed I will be able to see if I can incorporate any additional outbuildings.

I haven't been able to spend any time on Little Weldon for a while. So the Castle build has stopped for the moment. Whilst looking through an aged lap top I came across a couple of photos of the layout which preceded my current one. This layout was an exercise in minimum space modelling. The layout measured 5' x 3' when not in use this layout folded in half and became part of the fitted furniture I designed and built for the living room. The hinges were hidden underneath the bridge on the right hand side and the Water Tower on the left. This is still in use in Little Weldon's MPD. The stock that I ran on this layout was produced by Meccano Ltd between 1948 and 1953. During this period Hornby Dublo were still using the liveries of the Big Four, they didn't introduce British Railways liveries until 1953.

Hello all
I have had a productive weekend and have been able to continue with re landscaping Castle Hill, I have removed another Kentish Rag Stone outcrop. Backfilled the remaining cavity with plaster and have remodelled the area directly in front of the Keep. I have also finally finished making the Bailey Wall, this seemed to be one of those never ending jobs. A week's marathon of casting tiles has created enough to finish the project. I have started to construct the Watch Tower I am experimenting here with a smoke unit I would like to create some mist type effects if possible. I shall have to survey the remaining land to see if there is any more available space for further out buildings.

Hello all
A time for rejoicing is upon the folk of the Weldon's, for construction of the Castle is now complete. There is still a long way to go with a bit of filling and then painting. Followed by fixing down and the final landscaping. But phase one is now complete. The general manager has now said that he wants all construction materials stored away. To enable trains to be run again.

Quite fabulous, all the more so by the use of vintage 3 rail. I am enjoying greatly.
