That horses were used to shunt wagons about. I was quite young (above 7 yo) when a friends father gave us a ride on the footplate of a shunter engine to the turntable. I assumed all wagons were moved around by the same method :).

They were using horses to move wagons before locos existed.

The last horse used for shunting by BR in this country was retired in 1967 .... More useless information...... :)

I have been very busy working on the layout and the signalling. This has led me to revise the track layout to be more protypical ( removing facing point work highlighted by folks more knowledgable than me).

The diamond crossing is now a reversed single slip and i am removing one of the double slips and replacing it with a single slip. Again to resolve a facing point issue. This should lead to a more accurate track plan and enable accurate signalling. I am also in the process of installing the DCC concepts point rodding i picked up the the York show.
