I believe that those are hard to get anyway let alone a rare one.

They are not that hard to obtain.
Over the past few years I have bought seven of them, some in sets and some un-boxed.
Red/White bus with trailer.
Yellow/White bus with trailer.
Bendy bus Red/White
6-Wheel bus with luggage trailer.
Blue/White single bus.
Bendy Bus Blue/White.
And the Green/White bus and trailer.
The only other one I would like is the very rare original White bus !
Catenary can be found but the points are rare and I only have a couple which came form France.
All the busses were bought from the UK and can be Eheim or Brawa brand depending on age.

Those catenary buses are fun. I use one on "Armadilloville."Goes by the brand name of South Street, but generally appears similar to Einheim. Lately it has developed a squeal with concomitant slow speed, and then it will "grab" and resume speed. Presumably a loose gear.
Any thoughts how to fix it?

I Don't know anything about these "South Street " versions but if they are a copy of the Eheim bus then they will have an AC motor driving through spur gears onto the axle. All shafts are parallel with the axle.
The squealing may be due to lack of lubrication in the gear train bearings. The Eheim busses are easy to open - Loosen the screw holding the trolley arm assembly and remove being careful with the attached wire and then unscrew the screw behind the front wheels and the top part of the bus will come off but the trolley poles are still attached by the wire !
Then the motor can be seen and the gears/bearings lubricated. When re-fitting be careful to engage the steering mechanism and the wire and set the trolley pole base to the ahead position with the wheels straight before tightening the screw.
An AC motor is used in the Eheim./Brawa busses to prevent reversal but also work on DC.

Thank you, Colin, I think I was up to date on lubrication, but will have another go at it. It's a fun little piece, hate to see it binned.

I have not noticed them in UK shops.

these are the diesel loco that i grew up with but it was BR blue ............never really liked that colour

Which? B.R. blue you didn't like or the grey with red stripe?

I preferred the blue myself but we all have different tastes in what we like.

A Father's day treat.......Dapol '0' Sentinel DCC fitted........a great little loco.
